2011 Chevrolet Cruze
Chevrolet Cruze will be the global name for an all-new sedan from the next generation of General Motors’ compact car family. It replaces the Chevy Cobalt in North America and the Daewoo-built Chevy Lacetti/Nubira in Europe. GM will debut the four-door sedan concept at the 2008 Paris auto show in October. It will be the first look at vehicles from the new Global Compact Vehicle Architecture or Delta 2, which is a more global, lower-cost alternative to the current Delta platform underpinning the Cobalt and Pontiac G5.
The rollout begins in Europe, where the Cruze will begin production early in 2009 for sale in the spring as a 2010 model. North America must wait until a mid-2010 start of production at the Lordstown, Ohio, plant that makes the Cobalt and G5. It will be sold as a 2011 model in the U.S.

The 2011 Chevrolet Cruze will replace Cobalt as the compact car from General Motors’ volume division. Cruze is a 4-door sedan that comes in LS, LT, and LTZ trim levels. The LS has a 138-horsepower 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine. The LT and LTZ use a 140-horsepower turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine. A6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission is available. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front and rear side airbags. The LS and LT have 16-inch wheels; 17-inch wheels are standard on the LTZ; and 18-inch wheels are optional on the LT and LTZ. Among the available features are a wireless cell-phone link and navigation system. We have not yet tested the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze.
Cruze is the result of a development process harnessing GM’s global expertise and is the first of a new family of compact products that will deliver world class quality. It will be backed by expected highest scores in all major crash safety ratings.
