Designed to breathe new life into the model, the facelift appears to feature new front and rear bumpers, modified head-and taillights, and trapezoidal exhaust tips. Inside, we can expect minor changes such as an updated iDrive system and a larger LCD display.

Under the hood, BMW is expected to replace the 4.8-liter V8 (350 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque) with the twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 (400 hp and 450 l-ft of torque) from the 7-Series. The company may also replace the naturally aspirated 3.0-liter I6 (with 260 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque) with the twin-turbo 3.0-liter I6 (N54) or the new twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0-liter I6 (N55) from the 5-Series GT.

The current lineup of engine will carry over largely unchanged but there will be the new hybrid model and U.S. customers will be able to opt for BMW’s brilliant 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine as well. Another new addition will be the xDrive 50i from the X6
